Jimmy Somerville performs at Rewind The 80s festival Scotland at Scone Palace, Perth.


Jimmy Somerville first shot to fame back in 1984 with groundbreaking band Bronski Beat. Their debut single "Smalltown Boy" introduced the world to Jimmy’s distinctive voice, making the top three in Britain as well as being a huge hit all over Europe. After his departure from the band he formed The Communards with his old friend Richard Coles and enjoyed a string of hits with their mixture of good old fashioned "gay" disco and more bluesy, acoustic, political and social comment songs.
Jimmy has since then become well known for re-making disco classics as his own - You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real), Never Can Say Goodbye, and Don’t Leave Me This Way to name but a few – 30 years after he burst onto the scene with Smalltown Boy, Jimmy has now written and recorded an album of original disco tracks in homage to the genre which inspired so much. The album ‘Homage’ is out now.
